About SDI

SDI Environmental Services, Inc. is not your average hydrological consulting services firm. We are a small, dedicated group of geologists and engineers who solve simple groundwater problems in the morning and more complex water resource and environmental problems after a hearty lunch. The gray-haired professionals in the firm have been developing and protecting water resources around the country since 1964. We grew up with the science. The new kids on our block have gone through many years of school focusing on quantitative studies required for the development and application of hydrologic models. We find that both are necessary as people and the environment compete more and more for the same water. For solutions that provide quality water resources and protect the environment, you need consultants who understand the interaction between surface water and groundwater at both local and regional levels.

SDI professionals have expertise in:
  • geology, hydrology, and hydrogeology,
  • numerical flow and contaminant transport modeling, and
  • water resource management, and environmental investigations.

We have more than 75 years of combined experience completing projects successfully. Our clients know that SDI solutions are cost-effective and technically defensible. We have developed and used new tools like the integrated surface and groundwater model ISGW, efforts that set SDI apart from the rest of the crowd. SDI can provide that additional level of comfort to planners and citizens that water resource development projects can safely co-exist with the natural environment. If you're a business that might have a water resource problem, then you need to contact the seasoned veterans at SDI Environmental Services, Inc.

SDI provides professional services for the following types of projects, with special emphasis on the development and application of hydrologic models.

Water Supply Development
Hydrologic Modeling
Contamination Assessments
Permitting and Regulatory Compliance
Field Services
Expert Testimony

Protecting the environment is now politically correct. Development can no longer occur without a thorough evaluation of the potential environmental consequences. Assessments of natural systems require the prediction of long-term hydrologic responses because many ecological systems respond slowly to changes in hydrology.

SDI staff has worked with ecologists to define relationships between wetland health and water levels. This method is now being used as the basis for evaluating long-term potential ecological impacts of existing and proposed water resource development projects.
