The gray-haired professionals in the firm have been developing and protecting water resources around the country since 1964. We grew up with the science. The new kids on our block have gone through many years of school focusing on quantitative studies required for the development and application of hydrologic models. Protecting the environment is now politically correct. Development can no longer occur without a thorough evaluation of the potential environmental consequences. Assessments of natural systems require the prediction of long-term hydrologic responses because many ecological systems respond slowly to changes in hydrology.
